The first Skills Competition for Local Employees of China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd.'s Enterprises in Zambia was kicked off at Sino-Zam Vocational College of Science and Technology in Luanshya, Zambia, on Sept. 10 local time.
The event was hosted by China Nonferrous Metal Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. (CNMC), with the support of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Talent Center, and undertaken by CNMC Luanshya Copper Mines Plc. (CLM).
The competition, themed "Skillful Hands, Global Hearts," is an important initiative serving CNMC's strategy to deepen the localization of its overseas employees and drive the high-quality development of its international operations.
During the two-day competition, nearly 100 local employees from five CNMC subsidiaries operating in Zambia will compete across five categories: electricians, welders, fitters, laboratory technicians, and team leaders.
The opening ceremony of the event was attended by executives and contestants from CNMC's subsidiaries operating in Zambia — including CLM, NFC Africa Mining Plc. (NFCA), Sino-Metals Leach Zambia Ltd., Chambishi Copper Smelter Ltd. (CCS), Zambia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (ZCCZ), and China 15th Metallurgical Construction Group Co., Ltd. (15MCC) — as well as representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises operating in Zambia, officials from the local government, people from all works of life, and media representatives.
